Roulette

Roulette

The game of Roulette (which means ‘small wheel’ in French) first appeared in Paris in 1765. It wasn’t until around 1800 that Roulette was brought to the U.S. by French emigrants and the first American casino opened in New Orleans. This particular game is popular because it’s highly entertaining, yet very easy to play. A dealer or “croupier” is responsible for spinning the wheel in one direction, then dropping the Roulette ball so that it rolls in the opposite direction in which the wheel is spinning. Then, players simply place their bets on where the Roulette ball will come to rest.

Roulette has a number of versions, the two most popular being the European and American. Let’s discuss the differences between these two versions.

American Roulette

The American Roulette wheel has 38 pockets which are colored, alternating black and red, and numbered from one to thirty-six. Two additional pockets (the 0 and 00) also appear on the Roulette wheel. In American Roulette, the house has a 5.26% advantage over the player.

European Roulett

The European Roulette wheel has 37 pockets, one less than the American version. That’s because a European wheel only has one additional pocket, and that is labeled 0. As with the American wheel, the French wheel slots are also numbered and colored from one through thirty-six. In European Roulette, the house has a 2.70% advantage over the player.

Roulette Systems – Do They Work?

Today, there are thousands of Roulette systems for sale, both online and offline. Of course, all say they will increase your chances of winning at Roulette. But the truth is that no system, no matter how carefully devised will consistently win a player big money at this game. This is because Roulette is a game of chance. No two rolls of the Roulette ball are alike, making tracking your results an impossible task.

But it is possible to win at Roulette. The secret to winning is to place the odds in your favor as often as you can. So which factors can contribute to your luck the next time you play Roulette?

  1. The type of day you’re having when you hit the Roulette wheel. Your mental state can really affect the outcome of your game. For instance, if you’re having a positive and lucky day, there’s a good chance that positivity will follow you to the Roulette wheel. The same goes for the opposite; if you’ve been having a less-than-perfect day, chances are the Roulette wheel won’t be much easier on you. As we all know, life has its ups and downs and no one can win all the time. Enter any gaming establishment with this in mind, and you can gamble with realistic expectations.
  2. Knowing when to cut your losses and leave the wheel with your winnings is key. Although Roulette is a game of chance, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should blow your entire gambling budget.
  3. Give the European version of Roulette a try. Many online casinos offer both the American and European versions. However, because the European Roulette wheel only has one single zero, the house advantage is halved, giving you much better odds of winning the game.
  4. As with any game of chance, it’s most beneficial if you plan your bets in advance, rather than betting randomly. Lack of consistency in a betting system is what causes thousands of gamblers to lose money in casinos each year. Roulette can be a rewarding and exciting game to play. But players should beware that it is a fast-moving game. Keeping your focus and watching your bankroll are two of the most important ways to help ensure that you don’t lose more than you can afford when playing the Roulette wheel.
